Leadership will not call you back when you have a problem. No followup at all. Huge lack of professional business standards with leadership.

It takes a lot for me to leave a negative review but since Asheville Savings transitioned to First Bank... it's been nothing but terrible and I was with Asheville Savings for nearly 13 years. No more. Would not recommend them to anyone now. I had a personal and a business account. Being self employed early on can be feast or famine and sometimes, every dollar counts. Since the transition... you can no longer link a debit card up with paypal for instant deposits. Square can still deposit instantly but online banking now says the funds are available but... if you use them in the first 24 hours, your account is overdrafted. Happened to me 3 times in a row even though I was opted out of overdraft protection. They gave the money back but basically, I had to wait 24 hours to use “available funds”. Online banking began to lag where transactions normally took a day or two to clear and now it's 2 to 4 days. My business account was drained when I had to go to an unexpected funeral. An $8 charge (my mistake) overdrafted the business account. I had to wait until I caught up again from my trip to pay the $8 plus the OD fee. This was about a week and when I go in to clear the balance, I was hit with another $36 as an overlimit fee which I never experienced with Asheville Savings. So, I had to wait again and another week later, I was hit with a $10 overlimit maintenance fee. I then sat on it for 2 more weeks to look for a new bank but decided that I needed to get checks in the bank and figured I'd go ahead and take the $85 hit until I could find a bank I like. But... they shut down my business account. No notice. No phone call. Nothing. It appears quite clear that First Bank's only priority is to make money on your money by holding it longer then necessary, and charging you any kind of fee they can throw at you. Also, I went in person to deposit my checks last Friday but instead of the usual 4 to 5 familiar tellers and the fast short lines of yesteryear... there were all new tellers and there was a teller for the drive-thru, a teller at the counter, and a teller stuck on the phone with a line to the door that was not moving. I had enough and walked out with my checks and then found out they shut down my business account. Completely done with First Bank and strongly considering reporting them to the the Federal Reserve. If you're shopping for banks... just don't do this one. They don't care about you in the least. They care about your money. Thievery corporation 101.

Just waited over an hour to speak with someone. literally, I've been sitting here for 70 minutes. And now their computers aren't working. Never come here.

Representatives at Asheville Savings Bank continue to refuse to give me copies of my statements from last year without a hefty fee. I'm encountering inflexibility, and what I think is a mix of corporate slave mentality and/or a mentally self-enslaved manager. I am frustrated that I can't access my own data from last year. Here's what I wrote the branch manager: "wow it sucks that you are either enslaved by the asheville savings bank or by your own mind to the point that you can't help someone who needs it. especially someone who was a banking customer for several years. it's also bad policy on the part of a company to refuse to help customers in need. i hesitate to curse you directly because i know it's bad luck for everyone concerned. i hope these blockages dissolve, and know that i hate the system that makes you and i such slaves."Sheri wrote me: "The charge for statement copies is a standard fee and is disclosed in our terms and conditions. Should you want additional statement copies the charge is $5.00 per statement and I will be glad to help you."@Asheville Savings Bank
