I took a special chain in to be repaired that I have worn daily for over ten years. When I picked it up I put my cross on it and put it on immediately. As soon as I walked out of the store I went to my chest to touch my cross as I have done repeatedly for over ten years and knew instantly that this was not where my cross had always hit my chest. I felt the chain and it felt thinner and lighter. It was about 3 inches longer. I returned with in 20 seconds and told the clerk that this was not my chain. He suggested I leave the chain and said he would have the owner call. me. Chad did call me and told me there was no mix up with my chain. He said he had not even taken it out of the bag when he repaired it. Chad also said it was very stiff and felt it would break again soon. I'm not sure how he could determine that when it was not taken out of the bag? He explained the reason it was longer was because it had been pulled when it was broken..... I thought possibly my 14 kt. thicker and heavier box chain had switched because the only thing that looks familiar, on inspection, is the clasp. I feel so reassured to know that I was mistaken. I had no idea a chain could be "pulled and thinned out" so perfectly and evenly. I don't know why I had any doubts. ... but just to ease my silly little mind, I will measure and weigh my jewelry before dropping it off anywhere for repair...but I know this, it will never be at Oceanside Jewelers.
