I've been a customer for 23 years, and this weekend, I will be closing my account for good. Too many problems. My debit card was declined yesterday for a payment I knew I had the funds for. Turns out a fraud block had been put on my card - no one contacted me. I had to find out because my card was declined trying to buy myself dinner. I called the bank this morning and was given 3 options to get a new card - come to the bank (can't - I work an hour away during business hours, they're only open during business hours), wait 7-10 business days to get it mailed to me (can't - I need access to my money) or pay $45 to have it over nighted, which I just down right refuse to do (I work in shipping - an overnight, same town envelope will never cost more that $17.50). So I decide - fine, I'll close my account. "You need the joint account holder to come in an sign something." No, I'm not going to contact someone I have a restraining order against to close an account - can I bring in documentation showing he isn't allowed to contact me? "We need his signature. That's just the way it is." I even had them look and see he has not been active on the account since he was attached to it nine years ago. Still, no budging. So I can't even close my account. I've had 4 fraud alerts in 3 years and they've tried to charge me for every replacement debit card. So I'm removing all of my funds from the account and letting it sit there and rot. Good riddance. 23 years of business from me is finished. Terrible service.
