I went to several local Pawnshops today in need of a quick infusion of cash. I was selling an Apple iPad Pro I had listed on both offer up and let go with no activity in 17 days. I decided to try my luck at the pawn shops, something I have never done before as I had always been kind of leery about the whole enterprise. I googled local pawn shops. Several popped up very near to my home in Wilton Manors, the first one being the highest rated by the name of Trusted Pawn Shop. I usually skip the first in any list out of habit. Something I need to stop doing. I went to two shops and was disappointed in both. They fit neatly into the stereotype I already had in my head. Then I just happened to come upon Trusted Pawn Shop and decided to give it a shot. I was greeted cordially and respectfully by Alex, who turned out to be one of the owners. He was truly a great guy. He didn’t low ball me. He didn’t place a hard sell. He quickly did his evaluation of my iPad and was very honest in how he came up with the offer he made. Then he said, this is how much I can pay. It was better than the other offers I had earlier received . The best part is he told me to shop it around. He said if anyone offers more I should take it. Otherwise he said he would stand by his offer. So I went to a couple of other places and once again got this run around. First low balling me, then getting the manager who just prolonged the entire episode and still could not give me a fair offer. Then I went to one more who pretty much matched Alex’s offer but was completely obnoxious about it and complained how he was takin such a loss on the deal. I finally just said I don’t think it’s fair for you to take a loss for me. Then I left. That is when I decided I was done looking. It was clear to me that even if I were to receive a better offer, I only wanted to do business with Trusted Pawn. So I returned and Alex honored his word and then quickly processed the transaction, paid me in cash on the spot and Had me sign some paperwork. The whole thing took maybe 10 minutes. I was out the door with the cash I so urgently needed and I had a big smile on my face as it was a truly pleasurable experience. If I ever need to pawn anything in the future this will be my first and last stop. I would give Trusted Pawn 6 stars of that were an option. There is nothing negative in my mind to report. I highly recommend Trusted and when you go ask for Alex. I have no doubt he is that genuinely nice by nature. I have been in public relations my entire career. This guy and this pawn shop are the real deal. You will not leave feeling ripped off. Just the opposite. Trust me...you can trust Trusted Pawn Shop!
