Client Review on Santander Consumer Finance
Feedback:
I bought a car on finance with Santander and everything seemed fine for a week. My reason for returning to the dealer was because the start/stop had never worked. They sent me away as they didn't want anything to do with me, so I turned to Santander. They kindly offered to pay BMW £100 to health check the car which uncovered a faulty turbo, battery, fuel heater, start/stop, rear suspension, headlamp and two very worn tyres. How this car passed an MOT before I bought it I'll never know. The car had also been up for recall since 2011 due to the risk of a fire in the engine bay, yet I wasn't told about this by the dealer. Almost a year later, after eventually having to turn to a Financial Ombudsman the turbo, battery and fuel heater has been replaced and the start/stop has been fixed. However I paid for an MOT at the time of the repairs because I knew the suspension and headlamp would be an issue and not to my surprise, the car failed it's MOT and needs all new rear suspension, a headlamp and a tyre. I'm now having to ask Santander to pay for this. I've been paying £136.78 per month and I've not been able to use the car. I'm still awaiting compensation of £286.78, which doesn't cover my losses at all, but it's something. Lets hope Santander agree to pay for my suspension and headlight as it was brought up by BMW in July last year when my car was within warranty. It's a shame that I'm giving a 1 star review because Santander didn't sell me the car, but they have taken a very long time to get half of my car repaired. The car could have simply been returned to the dodgy dealer who sold it to me and I would have walked away thousands of pounds down. Instead Santander are having to pay out far more than I paid for the car to make it roadworthy.
