Use TransferWise instead of Xoom! My experience with Xoom was so disappointing, I'll never use them again. I chose Xoom to transfer money (to South Korea) because it was a PayPal company. After I completed my transaction at 9pm on Wednesday, Xoom promptly took $1100 out of my bank account on Thursday, but more than 48 hours later, at 10pm on Friday night, I get an email saying they cancelled my transaction due to "unexpected problem". When I called their customer service, I wasn't offered any explanation or help, other than very unsympathetic "sorry, we will refund your money in 3-5 business days"!!! When I explained I still need to send money to my family urgently, and can't wait 3-5 days, I was promised a call back soon. No one called over the weekend. 11:22am on Monday, I get an email stating my refund has been initiated, allow up to 3 business days to receive refund! On the contrary, when I submitted a transaction with TransferWise, I got better exchange rate, and my family received money on the same day it left my bank account!
